In the first year of Cyrus king of Persia, in order to fulfill the word of the Lord spoken by Jeremiah, the Lord moved the heart of Cyrus king of Persia to make a proclamation throughout his realm and to put it in writing... (Ezra 1:1)
Then the family heads of Judah and Benjamin, and the priests and Levites; everyone whose heart God had moved, prepared to go up and build the house of the Lord in Jerusalem. (Ezra 1:5)
It's very evident from these two vers...Read Full Post »

Isaiah 26:12 NIV
Lord, you establish peace for us; all that we have accomplished you have done for us.
A different kind of peace; one that stays put, during the storms of life, is what God gives to them who trust in him.
To say that God fights for us against our enemies is a fully time tested fact and he is the one who establishes peace for us.
Job, the Old Testament saint lost almost everything he had including his health becaus...Read Full Post »

Isaiah 26:9 NIV
My soul yearns for you in the night; in the morning my spirit longs for you. When your judgments come upon the earth, the people of the world learn righteousness.
Yearning and longing for the Lord......Is this how we can describe our life?
If yes, how blessed a life that is.
Thirsting for God like the psalmist sings in Psalm 42....
Psalm 42:1-2 NIV
As the deer pants for streams of water, so my soul pants for you, m...Read Full Post »

I will look on you with favor and make you fruitful and increase your numbers, and I will keep my covenant with you. (Leviticus 26:9)
How blessed it is when God looks on us with favor and it is so for all who have been chosen by him to be a part of his heavenly kingdom.
Here God promises the Israelites who were in the wilderness that he was going to make them fruitful and increase their numbers and also that he was going to keep his covenant with t...Read Full Post »

Yes, Lord, walking in the way of your laws, we wait for you; your name and renown are the desire of our hearts. (Isaiah 26:8)
A faithful believer will make known the name of Jesus Christ to others; his renown will be the desire of such a person's heart. Are we being faithful in this task? is a question we must ask ourselves time and again. Of course, many may excuse themselves saying, they are not gifted for this. But that's a very lame excuse. Our testimony of how J...Read Full Post »

The path of the righteous is level; O upright One, you make the way of the righteous smooth. (Isaiah 26:7)
Fact or fiction; this statement from Isaiah? Not only during the prophet's times, even now, the Christian's journey can be bumpy, so the statement seems like a paradox.
The fact remains that God can make the way of the righteous smooth. Among the many "I will" statements by God, this one is wonderful.......
I will lead the blind by ways ...Read Full Post »

Trust in the Lord forever, for the Lord, the Lord himself, is the Rock eternal. (Isaiah 26:4)
Very prominent in this verse is the word "Lord". It's used thrice, emphasizing the importance of him, who, we must learn to trust. He is "the rock eternal"; unshakable, yet moved with compassion often.
Many a time, we lean on our our own understanding and fall in to traps, but the Bible exhorts us in this manner...
Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean no...Read Full Post »

You will keep in perfect peace him whose mind is steadfast, because he trusts in you. (Isaiah 26:3)
In this world full of turmoil, perfect peace is a rarity and only achievable to those whose minds are steadfast and trusting in God. Those who do not trust in God are often crushed by the harsh realities of life and some take their own lives. But God loves them who trust in him and believe in the sin atoning sacrifice of his son Jesus Christ. He lives with them and h...Read Full Post »

In that day they will say, “Surely this is our God; we trusted in him, and he saved us. This is the Lord, we trusted in him; let us rejoice and be glad in his salvation.”
Those who trust in the Lord Jesus Christ will find salvation and eternal joy. He is the Savior of all who come to him with a contrite heart and submit their lives in to his hands.
Regarding "trusting in the Lord", we read in the book of Proverbs.... Trust in th...Read Full Post »

Isaiah 25:7-8 NIV
On this mountain he will destroy the shroud that enfolds all peoples, the sheet that covers all nations; he will swallow up death forever. The Sovereign Lord will wipe away the tears from all faces; he will remove his people’s disgrace from all the earth. The Lord has spoken.
What a time it will be when all the above prophesies are fulfilled. Christ, of course, has swallowed up death forever and those who believe in his atonement...Read Full Post »

You have been a refuge for the poor, a refuge for the needy in their distress, a shelter from the storm and a shade from the heat. For the breath of the ruthless is like a storm driving against a wall....
Have you made the Lord Jesus your refuge? There's no greater blessing than that and the benefits are not only for the here and now i.e. life on earth, but when your time on earth is over, you can live with God eternally.
When in distress, we can cry out to the Lord a...Read Full Post »

The Lord Almighty planned it, to bring down her pride in all her splendor and to humble all who are renowned on the earth. (Isaiah 23:9)(NIV)
Those who are proud, God will humble, sooner or later and more so those who rebel and challenge him. Tyre, Babylon, Assyria and many other nations were humbled by him.
In Psalm 2, the Psalmist sings,
Psalm 2:1-5 NIV
Why do the nations conspire and the peoples plot in vain? The kings of the earth r...Read Full Post »

And the lookout shouted, “Day after day, my lord, I stand on the watchtower; every night I stay at my post. (Isaiah 21:8) (NIV)
The job of a watchman can be tiring. Looking...watching.....observing......warning......but someone's got to do the job.
Looking at this matter in the present day context with regards to believers, many shrink back from their calling to be "watchmen for God and his kingdom".
They are so preoccupied with their o...Read Full Post »

In the year that the supreme commander, sent by Sargon king of Assyria, came to Ashdod and attacked and captured it - at that time the LORD spoke through Isaiah son of Amoz. He said to him, "Take off the sackcloth from your body and the sandals from your feet." And he did so, going around stripped and barefoot. Then the LORD said, "Just as my servant Isaiah has gone stripped and barefoot for three years, as a sign and portent against Egypt and Cush, so the king of Assyria will lead away st...Read Full Post »
